PURPOSE: To provide a CCD solid state image sensor in which high sensitivity or high speed reading is performed and a color balance is improved.
CONSTITUTION: A shape of a photodiode is extended toward a transfer gate corresponding to a CCD transfer passage. With three photodiodes provided with three prime color filters as units areas of the photodiodes so provided with red and green filters as to match to its pitch, are reduced by approximately half with the area of the photodiode provided with a blue filter as a reference. Potential gradients are generated from vertexes of a triangle toward a bottom side by a narrow channel effect in the photodiodes to efficiently scavenge photoelectric conversion charges to the passage. The photodiode provided with the blue filter having a low transmittance is largely formed thereby to improve its color balance.
