Abstract:
To provide a cell culture device and a cell culture method, both of which are capable of easily culturing cells at a high density.SOLUTION: A cell culture device of the present invention comprises: a culture chamber for culturing cells; a gas exchange membrane that separates the culture chamber from the outside; a space for installing a culture scaffold secured in the culture chamber; a hollow fiber membrane provided in the culture chamber so as to surround the space for installing the culture scaffold. The culture chamber has two or more ports that communicate with the outside. The hollow fiber membrane has a semi-permeable property that does not allow cells to permeate therethrough but allows selectively a predetermined substance to do so. The hollow fiber membrane has two or more open ends that are located outside the culture chamber and communicate with each other. A predetermined distance is secured between the space for installing the culture scaffold and the hollow fiber membrane.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
