PURPOSE: To minimize the physical stimulation to a fused cell during the transfer of the cell.

CONSTITUTION: The cell-fusion apparatus is provided with a cylinder having cell-fusion electrode in the cylinder and a lifting mechanism to vary the distance between the electrode and the bottom of a container for holding the cell after fusion. A sealing material is attached to the bottom of the electrode-containing cylinder or a viscoelastic substance is put in the vessel to form a sealing material. The apparatus is further provided with a means for transferring the vessel. Cell fusion is continuously performed by the use of the apparatus.
