To obtain a cellulose acetate conjugate fiber whose specific gravity is increased while the loss of glossiness characteristic to cellulose acetate fiber is suppressed, having improved drapability and useful as a material for clothes by compounding inorganic fine particles having a specific refractive index and relative density in a core part.
This cellulose acetate conjugate fiber is produced by carrying out dry spinning in such a manner that (A) a cellulose acetate component containing inorganic fine particles having a refractive index of 1.3-1.9 and a relative density of ≥3.5 in an amount of 5-80wt.% and (B) a cellulose acetate component constitute the core part and the sheath part, respectively. Thus, the objective high density conjugate cellulose acetate fiber having a relative density of 1.40-1.70 is obtained. Barium sulfate is especially preferable in view point of densification, glossiness, also effect on a human body, etc.
