To provide a cellulose ester film having at least a base layer and a surface layer, the cellulose ester film having little size change in a wet heat environment, being superior in transparency, and further hardly causing "delamination" causing splitting and separation between layers when a hard coat film or polarizing plate having a hard coat layer provided on the cellulose ester film is cut.

There is provided the cellulose ester film comprising a multi-layer structure having at least the base layer and surface layer, the cellulose ester film contains at least two kinds of ester compounds which differ in acid value and are obtained by condensation or polycondensation through esterification reaction between diol and a dicarboxylic acid compound. The content (mass%) of the compound having the highest acid value among the ester compound is less in the base layer than in the surface layer, and content (mass%) of the compound having the lowest acid value is larger in the base layer than in the surface layer.
