To provide a center apparatus and a working machine using the same excellent in durability and suitable for highly accurate working.
Centers 4, 5 are respectively inserted into and engaged with sides of a through-hole H in an axial center of cylindrical workpiece W. The cylindrical workpiece W is pressed and caught from the both end face sides thereof by the pair of centers 4, 5. In the constitution, the pair of centers 4, 5 are respectively rotatably supported to be capable of floating by non-contact type bearing means 8, 9 such as a porous hydrostatic bearing. Accordingly, the frictional loss at the bearing portions supporting the centers 4, 5 is reduced and the centers 4, 5 are smoothly rotated so that the cylindrical workpiece W is synchronously rotated with the centers 4, 5.
