To provide a new center drum type gravure printing apparatus which neither causes any printing disalignment nor requires much installation space, and which has multiple gravure plate cylinders with cushion function suitable for multi-color printing.

The gravure printing apparatus includes: a center drum 24; a guiding means 26 which introduces a substrate 22 to the drum surface so that it contacts the center drum surface and also guides it so that it is ejected from the drum surface; multiple gravure plate cylinders with cushion function which are abuttably mounted on the surface of the substrate guided onto the drum surface of the center drum and have gravure cells on their printing plate surfaces; ink chambers which are mounted on the printing plate surfaces of the respective gravure printing cylinders so as to supply the ink onto the gravure cells of the respective gravure plate cylinders; a drying means mounted spaced upward apart corresponding to the respective gravure plate cylinders so that it abuts the starting points of the rotation directions of the multiple gravure printing cylinders and also it faces the drum surface of the center drum.
