A ceramic electronic component 1 includes a ceramic element assembly 10 in a rectangular parallelepiped shape, a first external electrode 13, and a second external electrode 14. The first external electrode 13 comprises at least one plating film including a first plating film 13a disposed directly on an outer surface of the ceramic element assembly 10. The second external electrode 14 comprises at least one plating film including a second plating film 14a disposed directly on the outer surface of the ceramic element assembly 10. The first and second plating films each have a surface area per unit area equal to or larger than 1.02 in plan view.
