This porous ceramic filter is binding a ceramic aggregate particle with an inorganic binder. The aggregate particle is SiC and contains not more than 10% of particle with 50% or smaller particle size of 50% particle diameter. The porosity of the ceramic filter is 25-50% and the maximum pore diameter is two times as large as the average pore diameter or smaller. The quantity of air flow (at 10 mm Aq head) per unit volume of the filter is 0.2-0.5 liter/min and the bending strength of the filter at room temperature is 200 kg/cm or higher.
