Title:
CERAMIC SINTERED COMPACT WITH METAL AS SKELETON
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3202376
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a ceramic sintered compact improved in fracture strength by embedding a linear, rodlike or netty metallic material in a specified skeletal location of a specific ceramic composition, followed by monolithic molding and then sintering.
CONSTITUTION: Firstly, a linear, rodlike or netty metallic material is coated with an organic pasty material prepared by a adding water to a mixture of a specified proportion of starch and charcoal powder followed by heating to form a coating film of ≥0.05mm thickness. Second, mixture composed of 20-95wt.% of the main stock which become vitreous through melting at elevated temperatures and has a chemical composition of 0.6-1.5 in the molar ratio of (CaO+MgO+Al2O3)/SiO2, 3-20wt.% based on the stock, of a molding auxiliary composed of hydraulic cement and a metal salt and, where appropriate, a nonshrinkable material is calcined to continue its linear expansion with temperature rise while keeping its linear expansion coefficient at ≥80×10-7/°C, and a ceramic composition whose sintering shrinkage at ≥1000°C is ≥0.5% is obtained. Then, this composition is molded, and the paste- coated metallic material is embedded in a specified skeletal location of the resultant form, followed by monolithic molding and then sintering at 1000-1250°C, thus obtaining the objective ceramic sintered compact.
