PURPOSE: To enable suppression of lowering of quality due to heating by a method wherein a cooling process to cool grains is provided between a moisture content diffusing process and a far infrared ray irradiation process.
CONSTITUTION: In a cereal drying method, unhulled rice charged in a drier body1 is dried in a way that a far infrared ray irradiation process by a heating part 6, a grain storage process for tampering by a temperating part 2, a moisture content diffusing process by a moisture content diffusing part 3, and a cooling process by a low temperature storage part 4 are repeatedly performed in order named. For example, in order to prevent lowering of the quality of unhulled rice, it is desired that the rice is preserved at as a low temperature as possible. Meanwhile, since far infrared rays heat a material through radiation, thermal efficiency thereof is higher than that of heating by thermal conduction utilizing hot blast. Thus, even when grains are cooled once before reheating, no decrease in thermal efficiency occurs, and lowering of quality due to heating would be rather suppressed.
