Abstract:
To provide a chain tensioner which is small in a consumption amount of oil, hardly causes the lowering of a damper force even if attached in a depression angle state, and is low in a manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: A chain tensioner comprises a second check valve 17 arranged at an end part in an axial direction at a side apart from a protrusion end protruding from a cylinder 9 of a plunger 10 of a pressure chamber 16, and a second reservoir chamber 18 communicating with the pressure chamber 16 via the second check valve 17. The second check valve 17 is constituted so as to permit only the movement of oil to a side of the pressure chamber 16 from a side of the second reservoir chamber 18, and an orifice passage 56 for making the second reservoir chamber 18 and the pressure chamber 16 communicate with each other is arranged in parallel with the second check valve 17.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
