Abstract:
PURPOSE:To surely prevent a four-wheel drive vehicle from slipping, from the start point of a low friction road on which the vehicle is liable to slip, by detecting the condition of a road surface so that the vehicle is changed over beforehand into its four wheel drive mode when the vehicle runs on a low friction road. CONSTITUTION:A gear 21 is coupled to a rear drive shaft 23 through a transfer clutch 22 composed of a 2/4 wheel drive change-over hydraulic clutch, and then a power is transmitted from the rear drive shaft 23 to a rear final reduction gear unit 25 through a propeller shaft 24. In the case of deenergization of a soleniod 32, an inlet port 29 is closed but an outlet port 30 is communicated with a drain port 31 so that the clutch 22 is disengaged by discharged oil. Further, when the solenoid is energized, the spool 34 is moved leftward to close the drain port 31, and therefore, the outlet and inlet ports 30, 29 are communicated to feed oil into the clutch 22 which is therefore engaged. With this arrangement, the mode of 2/4 wheel drive may be changed over.
