Abstract:

To reduce power consumption and time required for a mobile station to search peripheral cells, to decrease complications in design and management in a mobile communication system.

A peripheral cells searching method using information sent from a sector to a mobile station in a mobile communication system that determines the sector for a mobile station communicating with several base stations to wait or communicate with a channel identifier received from the sector, pre-defines a mapping pattern mapping a sector number of the sector and the channel identifier number of the channel identifier so that one channel identifier is contained only in one mapping pattern, selects one mapping pattern per base station to assign the channel identifiers to each sector in the base station on the basis of the mapping pattern, and notifies mobile station in the scope of any one of the channel identifiers assigned to the peripheral base station sector for one peripheral base station from the base station.
