PURPOSE: To rapidly and simply form and correct the seam of a graphic, the balance of the whole graphic, the arrangement of the graphic, etc., by simultaneously arranging and displaying respective character patterns specified by codes and forming or editing any one of the character patterns in the above status.

CONSTITUTION: The numbers of character patterns to be arranged in the horizontal and vertical directions are inputted from a keyboard 20 based upon the size of a graphic to be formed and the whole graphic is contractedly displayed so as to be included in one screen. Adjacent 2 or 3 character patterns are magnified and displayed, a cursor is moved in the vertical and horizontal directions through the keyboard 20 and a graphic is formed until the whole graphic is finished. Respective formed character patterns are stored in a character pattern buffer 30 by a character pattern registration control part 26. In the case of checking the seam of the graphic, the balance of the graphic, or its arranging position, respective character patterns corresponding to allocated character codes are accessed from the buffer 30, contractedly displayed on a display part 36 so as to be included in a screen and the checking word of the displayed contents in the contracted state is executed.
