Abstract:

To allow a user to read a newspaper or a book without using an eyeglass and to allow even a person with a weak eyesight or a person on a bed to use the character reader, as through he is watching a television receiver by emitting radio waves of an image caught by a CCD camera attached to a transparent cup and moved on a sentence and displaying the image on the television screen.

A CCD camera 2 attached to a transparent cup 1 is moved on characters to receive the characters as an image, and the image is transmitted as a radio wave 4 or through a wired line as a video signal, and a television receiver 3 displays the image. A pen-sized camera has conventionally been the mainstream and a small-sized image has been magnified and confirmed only on a television receiver, etc., as was the case for many conventional products. However, the CCD camera captures an image of normal sized characters, and the user reads the image on a television screen.
