Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character segmentation system of a contacted character without being affected by fluctuation of a contact form due to difference in a kind of characters and capable of being executed on small scale hardware resources.
SOLUTION: This device is provided with an image storage part 110 to store a character string image, a partial pattern dictionary 122 to store a shape of a partial pattern to be a characteristic to specify the kind of characters, a partial pattern detection part 121 to extract an area to coincide with the partial pattern from the character string image, a kind of characters judging part 123 to judge the kind of characters from positions and the number of the areas to coincide with the partial pattern in the character string image, a characteristic extraction prohibition area dictionary 132 store an area to prohibit a characteristic extraction processing in respective kinds of characters, a character separation characteristic extraction area definition part 131 to restrict the area to extract character separation characteristics, a character separation characteristic extraction part 133 to extract the character separation characteristic, a character border position detection part 134 to detect a separating position of the characters and an entire control part 140 to supervise operations of these processing parts.
