Abstract:
To suppress the occurrence of a printing failure such as fogging.SOLUTION: This charging device comprises an image carrier which carries an electrostatic latent image and is capable of rotating, and a charging member for charging the surface of the image carrier with electricity. The inclination of an appropriation line obtained from a graph that, when a prescribed voltage is applied to the charging member and the circumferential speed of the image carrier is varied to 81 [mm/s], 116 [mm/s], 151 [mm/s], and 194 [mm/s], indicates a relationship between the respective circumferential speeds and the surface potentials of the image carrier, is -0.0426 [V/(mm/s)] or less.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
