Abstract:

PURPOSE: To charge an electrolytic capacitor without generating any large transient charging current at the time of starting an inverter which converts a direct current into an alternating current and surely discharge the capacitor at the time of stopping the inverter and, at the same time, to reduce the power consumption of a charging and discharging circuit during the normal operation of an inverter.
CONSTITUTION: A charging and discharging circuit is constituted in such a way that a charging resistor 17 can be connected to an electrolytic capacitor 15 and the capacitor 15 can be charged when a second electromagnetic contactor 16 having an auxiliary contact is actuated at the time of starting an inverter and a discharging resistor 10 can be connected to the capacitor 15 and charges can be discharged from the capacitor 15 when a first electromagnetic contactor 12 having an auxiliary contact and the contactor 16 are opened at the time of stopping the inverter by connecting the charging and discharging resistors 17 and 10 to the contactors 16. During the normal operation of the inverter, the power consumption of the charging and discharging circuit can be reduced, because the resistors 17 and 19 are disconnected from the capacitor 15.
