To charge a battery pack where serially-connected batteries come into an unbalanced state to as large capacity as possible, while using a simple charging circuit and reducing adverse effect on deteriorated batteries.
The charging method of a battery pack fully charges the battery pack with a plurality of lithium ion secondary batteries serially connected by charging it at constant current/constant voltage. In the charging method, the battery pack is charged at the constant current until the total voltage of the battery pack rises to a total set voltage, and is charged until the battery pack is fully charged by changing over constant-current charging into constant-voltage charging after the total voltage rises to the total set voltage. In addition, the battery voltages of the respective batteries to be charged are detected, and the battery pack is charged by changing over the constant-voltage charging into pulse charging after any of the battery voltages exceeds a first set voltage.
