PURPOSE: To maintain the charge in a blast furnace at the accumulation level uniform in the circumferential direction of the furnace by setting measuring points on the plural radial lines of the blast furnace, and starting the charging of a raw material when the value measured at any one place of the measurement points attains the set lower limit value.
CONSTITUTION: The radial direction of a blast furnace 1 is designated in ≥ two directions and is more preferably set in four directions having a 90° angular difference such as the east, west, south and north. Measuring points are provided in ≥1 position in each direction line. A lower limit point D of the level is set in the upper region in the shaft part 12 of the furnace 1 and an upper limit point U of the level is provided in a mouth part 11 in order to regulate the range for maintaining the accumulation level of the charge 2 in the furnace 1 constant. The accumulation levels are measured continuously at all times at all the set measuring points, and the charging for replenishment is started at the point of the time when the value measured at any one position attains the point D. The charging is stopped when the accumulation level attains the point U upon progression of the charging of the raw material.
