To securely prevent unauthorized use of a coupon to perform efficient checkout.SOLUTION: A checkout system includes a commodity registration device that performs commodity registration processing of a purchased commodity by an operation of a clerk, and a settlement device that performs settlement processing for the purchased commodity registered by the commodity registration device by an operation of a customer. In the system, the commodity registration device registers commodity identification information of the purchased commodity and registers coupon information as payment information, and transmits information based on the registered commodity identification information and the coupon information as the payment information as information to be used for settlement processing. The settlement device performs settlement processing on the basis of the information received from the commodity registration device, and prints the information based on the coupon information as the payment information included in the received information. The settlement device, when there is a difference between a purchase amount based on the commodity registered by the commodity registration device and an amount based on the coupon information, and the purchase amount is larger, can execute settlement processing using electronic money.
