Abstract:
To provide methods of controlling the spread of African porcine fever virus and/or classical porcine fever virus in animal feeds, feed components, and pet foods.SOLUTION: These methods of the invention use generally safe chemical palliatives such as medium-chain fatty acids. These chemical palliatives are effective when introduced into feed or feed ingredients at a significantly lower content than conventional methods for suppressing other microorganisms. These methods are particularly suitable for use in post-processing animal feed, feed ingredients, and pet food that are transported and stored for days or weeks.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
