PURPOSE: To provide a chip mounter which can prevent the damage of a work by the noncontact positioning of a chip part in case of mounting, especially, a chip part and besides can shorten the positioning time by the reduction of complicated numerical processing.

CONSTITUTION: This is a chip mounter which mounts a work in the specified position of a mount, and this is composed of a suction bit 3, which is capable of vacuum suction for suction and mounting of a chip capacitor 2, being provided capably of rotation and vertical action inside the head assembly 1 of a chip mounter, and laser displacement sensors 4 and 5, which interlocks integrally with this suction bit 3, being provided in X direction and Y direction to the chip capacitor 2 sucked by the suction bit 3. And, the compensation in the X direction, Y direction, and rotational direction of the chip capacitor 2 is performed by the measurement by the laser displacements 4 and 5 and the processing by this measured value.
