Various deficient mutant peptides are prepared by using a region of Ile114 to Arg161 in a soybean protein Ala subunit as the center and a binding ability and affinity for various bile acids are examined to thereby elucidate amino acid sequences Val Ala Trp Trp Met Tyr having the high cholesterol-lowering activity. Thereby, the peptide and the cholesterol-lowering agent comprising the peptide as the active ingredient can be provided. The food and drink, the feed, the food and drink additive and the feed additive having the cholesterol-lowering activity imparted thereto can be provided.
