PURPOSE: To hold a grinding tool in a constantly excellent state and to perform effective prevention of formation of a chuck mark by regulating an eccentric amount through correction of the dynamic balance of the grinding tool and holding roundness in a given range in a way to make dressing on-line.
CONSTITUTION: In a line where a belt-like metallic substance having a scale formed on a surface is processed, a grinding work is applied on the surface part of the belt-like metal by means of a roll type grinding tool 1. In this case, an eccentric amount is regulated through correction of the dynamic balance of the grinding tool 1. Simultaneously therewith, a dressing work is applied on the grinding tool 1 on-line by means of a dresser 2 to hold roundness thereof in a given range. This method holds the grinding tool in a constantly excellent state and is extremely effective to prevention of formation of a chuck mark and produces a cold rolled product freed from unevenness in glossiness periodically occurring in a rolling direction and having an excellent surface nature.
