PURPOSE: To obtain the subject mechanism, having nipping members of a specific construction for nipping the tip part of a tape group formed from parallel placed tapes and arranging means for inserting the tip of the tape group in an arranged state between the nipping members and capable of surely and automatically engaging plural tapes.
CONSTITUTION: An arranging means 87 is initially advanced to the tip side along a tape group 12 of mutually parallel placed tapes 10 at a prescribed interval to arrange the tip parts of the respective tapes 10 constructing the tape group 12. The arranging means 87 is further inserted into a gap formed between a pair of nipping means 81 and 83 capable of mutually, adjacently and separately nipping the tip part of the tape group 12 simultaneously with advance of the arranging means 87. Projecting ridges 85, provided on the inside surface of one member 83, having elasticity and extending in the direction crossing the tape group 12 are engaged with recessed grooves 86 formed in the other member 81 into which the protruding ridges 85 can be inserted to carry out engagement of the projecting ridges with the recessed grooves of the nipping members 83 and 81. Thereby, the respective tip part of the tape group 12 are engaged.
