Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a circuit for heat medium where refrigerant such as ammonia hardly leaks into the space under air conditioning which threatens to endanger man and the environment.
CONSTITUTION: A double tube is used to form each of a cool heat exchanger 3 and a warm heat exchanger 4 in a closed piping system to use the inner tubular channel as a passageway for a refrigerant such as ammonia and the outer tubular channel, for an inert gas with no toxicity passed under a larger pressure than the refrigerant. With this piping, even if a small hole resulting from corrosion or cracking forms in the separating tubular wall and the inner and outer tubular passageways communicate, the safe gaseous heat medium passed through the outer tubular channel may flow into the inner tubular channel but the hazardous refrigerant such as ammonia passed through the inner tubular channel is prevented from flowing into the circuit for the heat medium. Thus there is no possibility of a hazardous refrigerant flowing into the indoor heat exchanger 1 or the outdoor heat exchanger 2, nor is there danger even if leakage of the heat medium occurs, for example, at the indoor heat exchanger 1.
