Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device and a method for mirror signal detection used to count the number of tracks being jumped during a track jump of a disk.
SOLUTION: First peak and bottom hold sections 10 and 12 output peak and bottom values of the signals of an RF amplifier as first peak and first bottom values, respectively. A differential amplifier 14 amplifies and outputs the difference beteween the first peak value and the first bottom value. Second peak and bottom hold sections 16 and 18 output the peak and bottom values of the signals of the amplifier 14 as second peak and second bottom values. A central value extracting section extracts the center value of the signals of the RF amplifier using the second peak and second bottom values. A comparator 28 compares the signals of the amplifier 14 with the center value to output mirror signals. A hold section time constant adjusting circuit 30 adjusts the time constants of the sections 16 and 18 in accordance with the level changes of the signals of the RF amplifier.
