PURPOSE: To maintain cut quality without re-grinding by retaining by means of a soft material both sides or the one side of a hard core material in the state of its tip portion being more exposed or protruded than the soft base material, and specifying the thickness of the hard core material.
CONSTITUTION: A soft base material 8 exists on one side along in regard to the hard core material 7 of a circular slablike edge tool. The hard core material 7 is formed of the single layer coating or foil of TiC, TiN, WC, CBN, a diamond or the like, or an electrodeposited layer or the like where the hard particles of a diamond, CBN or the like are dispersed. The tip portion of the core material 7 is more exposed or protruded than the soft base material 8. The thickness of the hard core material 7 is made to be 1-18μm, preferably 3-15μm so that cut quality may be able to be retained. For example, in the case of a corrugated cardboard sheet being cut off, the soft base material 8 wears early in precedence of the hard core material 7 due to slide against a material to be cut off, and the hard core material 7 is always exposed as a sharp edge tip and generates self grinding operation.
