PURPOSE: To clamp a boring main shaft and to improve the precision during milling by spline-coupling the boring main shaft with a milling main shaft tube and by pushing in a wedge on a tapered surface provided between them.
CONSTITUTION: A boring main shaft 6 is spline-coupled with a milling main shaft tube 1 so as to be driven to rotate and movable in the axial direction, and boring machining and milling machining are performed. A tapered surface 1a is provided on the milling main shaft tube 1 and a wedge 12 is arranged between the tube 1 and the boring main shaft 6. The wedge 12 is pushed in by a dish spring 13 and fixes the boring main shaft 6 to the milling main shaft tube 1, thus prevents the oxcillation and the like of the main shaft during milling machining and improves the machining precision. During boring machining, an eccentric ring 16 is rotated by a rack/pinion mechanism, thus pushing back the wedge 12 and releasing the clamp.
