Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To propose the simple shape of tip spaces having cost efficiency in forming the tip spaces for holding the holder of a cutting blade chip on a cutter body.
SOLUTION: In a clamping mechanism for a face milling cutter, a cutter body 1 at its outer periphery part is provided with a plurality of tip spaces 2 to house the holder 3 of a cutting blade tip 5 and to mountably, demountably clamp the holder 3 of the cutting blade tip 5 on the cutter body 1. The external appearance shape of the holder 3 is of a prism shape. Each tip space 2 for housing the holder 3 is formed into a quadrangular groove to which the four faces of the prism shape of holder 3 abut from the front end of the cutter body 1. The two faces of each tip space 2 faces the outer periphery of the cuttert body 1 to form a reverse V-shaped wedgewise face with part of each tip space 2 allowed to leave to form an open part. The outer two faces are formed into a V-shaped wedgewise face at the axis center side of the cutter body 1.
