To clean even a minute spot such as an edge without using solvent, etc., or shedding fluff by bending the thread consisting of a synthetic-fiber filament having a specified fineness and having a loop or a braided article, projecting the bend and inserting the thread or braided article in a cylindrical or columnar grip to constitute the cleaner.
For example, the composite yarn of a polyethylene terephthalate and a polyethylene terephthalate-base copolyester having about 0.68 limiting viscosity is braided by a braiding machine to form a braided article 8 having a loop. Namely, the braided article 8 consisting of a synthetic-fiber filament having ≤0.5 denier single-yarn fineness and having a loop is obtained. The braided article 8 is bent and inserted in the insertion part 9 of an acrylic cylinder so that the bend is projected, and a grip 7 is attached. The cleaner is good in cleaning property, and the whole crayon applied on the edge of a sleeve in contact with the end face of a ferrule, etc., is wiped off when an optical connector is cleaned.
