PURPOSE: To clean up an intermediate transfer body sufficiently and to prevent the transfer surface from wear by forming the outer layer part of a cleaning roll by a porous or fiber-like base body including toner or the same resin as the toner or resin dissolving with said resin each other at least one its outer surface.
CONSTITUTION: The outer layer part of the cleaning roll 8 of the intermediate transfer body 4 consists of a porous or fiber-like base body, and the toner itself, the same resin as the toner or resin dissolving with said toner each other is adhered at least to the external surface of the base body. In the cleaning roll 8, the same resin as the toner or resin dissolving with said toner each other is applied to the external periphery of a paper tube 8A by impregnation or coating so as to form a thin resin layer 8B. When the cleaning roll 8 is used for the intermediate transfer body 4, the adhered toner on the intermediate transfer body 4 which is heated by a heating roll and a heater or a heating source 4A and a heating source 9A for a fixing press roll 9 and slightly softened is adhered and removed to/by the resin layer extremely efficiently, so that an extremely superior cleaning effect can be obtained.
