Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clog detector for scrap preheater/loader. SOLUTION: The clog detector for a scrap preheater/loader disposed on the top of an arc furnace and supplying scrap 4 to an arc furnace while heating comprises a pair of nozzles 11 disposed oppositely on the wall of a scrap passage in the scrap preheater/loader. Each nozzle 11 is provided with a pipe for blowing the air into the scrap passage and one of the pair of nozzles is provided with a microwave or laser transmitter 14a while the other nozzle is provided with a microwave or laser receiver 14b.
