To detect deficient drainage of dehumidifying water with an inexpensive and simple structure.
The clothes dryer includes: an air-conditioning unit 15; a fan unit 24 disposed between the air-conditioning unit 15 and a rotary drum 3; a circulation blowing path 36 for sucking air within the rotary drum 3, dehumidifying and heating the sucked air through the air-conditioning unit 24 to make dried high-temperature air and returning the dried high-temperature air to the rotary drum 3 thereafter; a hot air temperature-detecting means 25 for detecting the temperature of air in the section from after passing through a fan 21 to the rotary drum 3; and a control means 41 for controlling the operation. The control means 41 detects deficient drainage of the dehumidifying water generated from a dehumidifying heat exchanger 13 based on the temperature detected by the hot air temperature-detecting means 25. If deficient drainage of the dehumidifying water occurs, the dehumidifying water is sucked together with air and air is blown. Then, the deficient drainage can be detected as the temperature detected by the hot air temperature-detecting means 25 is different than the temperature in normal time. As a result, failure, malfunction, or an overflow of water, etc. caused by the deficient drainage of the dehumidifying water can be prevented.
