To suppress the highest value of an inrush current as much as possible by a simple configuration and to improve drying efficiency in a clothes dryer using a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) heater element for heating means of drying air generation means.
A drying air generation unit 26 for generating drying air to be supplied to a drying chamber includes a blower 27 and a heater 28. The heating unit 35 of the heater 28 is configured by vertically stacking first and second heater units 40 and 41 having six each of the PTC heater elements, respectively. In the first heater unit 40 and the second heater unit 41, the size of the inrush current is different. When energizing the two heater units 40 and 41, the first heater unit 40 of the large inrush current is energized first, and the second heater unit 41 of reduced inrush current is energized after the predetermined time, after one minute for instance.
