To provide a clothing dryer which does not use a desiccant rotor to miniaturize the clothing dryer and also to be effective even if applied to a vertical rotary drum type washing machine whose washing water tank has an opening at its upper side, since a clothing dryer which carries out clothes drying using a desiccant rotor has problems where the desiccant rotor with a large diameter is needed as the desiccant rotor absorbs moisture at one part of a plane region and releases moisture at the other part during rotation, a washing machine becomes large and cannot be miniaturized since a rotation drive device is necessary, and it is especially not suitable for a vertical drum washing machine having a smaller inner space.

The clothing dryer is provided with: a moisture adsorption route for carrying out air circulation in which air flows out of a clothing drying tank by the operation of a blower, adsorbs moisture while passing a desiccant member, and comes back to the clothing drying tank; a moisture releasing route carrying out air circulation in which air containing moisture released from the desiccant member by the operation of the blower and the heat generation of a heater passes a condensation part and comes back to the desiccant member; and a switching means that switches the air flow between the moisture adsorption route and the moisture releasing route.
