The clothing dryer is equipped with a motor 3 for rotationally driving a rotary drum 1, a heat pump device 6 in which a compressor 7, a radiator 8, throttle means 9, and a heat sink 10 are connected by a pipe line 11 so that a coolant circulates, a blower fan 12 for blowing drying air into the rotary drum 1, and an air-blow pathway 13 for circulating the drying air discharged from the rotary drum 1 through the heat sink 10 via the radiator 8 to the rotary drum 1. The motor 3 and the compressor 7 are installed below the rotary drum 1 and on the base part of the body 2. The motor 3 and the compressor 7 are decentrally arranged on both sides of a vertical plane in the direction of the rotational shaft including the rotational shaft 5 of the rotary drum 1.
