To safely press clothing, by use of a clothing press which sandwiches and heats clothing or the like for pressing wrinkled clothing and for forming pleats by preventing the loosening of screws and an excessive rise in temperature of a pressing surface and to machine metallic members by use of a general- purpose machine.

A movable plate 19 having a cushion body 18 disposed on its side facing a pressing surface is formed in such a manner that the movable plate 19, by way of a hinge device 20, freely opens and closes a fixed plate 17 provided with a heater 16, the movable plate 19 and the fixed plate 17 together sandwiching and heating clothing, etc. A plurality of members 21a to be tightened are arranged within a counterbored part 22a formed in the pressing surface of the fixed plate 17, and in each of the members 21 a to be tightened a first metallic member 26 having a threaded part 29 and a second metallic member 28 are integrally coupled together and the locking part 30 of a resin member 25 having a runout part 31 for a screw 24a is fitted and locked in a locking hole 32 in the first metallic member 26.
