PURPOSE: To obtain a Co-base amorphous magnetic material with improved magnetic characteristics such as improved squareness by adding Mo to an amorphous Co alloy and carrying out simple annealing.
CONSTITUTION: This Co-base amorphous magnetic material is an amorphous alloy contg. 0.1W6 atomic% Mo and ≥ about 50 atomic% Co and satisfying Br/B10≥75%, and it is represented practically by a compositional formula Co100-a-b-cMoaXbYc (where 0.1≤a≤6, 0≤b≤30, 15≤c≤30, X is Ni, Co, Ti, V, C Cr, Mn, Zr, Nb, Cu, W, Ta, Hf, Ru, Ag, a Pt group element, a rare earth element, Sn, Pb, an alkali metal, an alkaline earth emetal or the like, and Y is Si, B, C, Al, P, Ga, Ge, Bi or As). Among said components Co is a principal component providing magnetism. When the amount of Mo is <0.1 atomic%, the effect is not remarkable, and in case of >6 atomic% Mo, the square ratio of the alloy is reduced to ≤60%.
