Key tops 1 made of a transparent hard resin, a key-surrounding shock-absorbing area (skirt) 3 made of a TPE material, and a base section 2 are fabricated in advance by two-color insert molding. Their surfaces are then coated with (1) a white-toned primer, by (2) a translucent silver metallic coating, and finally by (3) a special UV-curing coating. Letters and figures are printed on the key top surfaces by pad printing in between the steps of coatings (2) and (3).
