PURPOSE: To provide a profile controlling apparatus in a blade coater to apply a paint on a web uniformly in width direction.

CONSTITUTION: Regarding a blade coater to measure the coating amount on a web by pressing a blade 4 on a backing roll 3 after a paint 5 sprayed out of a fountain nozzle 1 is coated on a running web 2, a plurality of profilers having a profile adjusting system are installed in the width direction between the tip of the blade and a solid bar in the upper part of the solid bar 6 set along the blade and thus coating amount profile in the width direction is controlled by controlling the pushing pressure of the profilers 7. Profile control to give uniform coating amount in the width direction can be done without decrease of the pressing force of the blade by using the coating apparatus.
