To provide a coating apparatus capable of controlling uneven coating of a coating liquid applied to a flexible carrier film.

The carrier film 5 is wound around an upper backing roll 2 and a lower backing roll 3, and equalizers 6a and 6b rotated with carrying of the carrier film 5 are arranged between the upper and lower backing rolls 2 and 3 so as for the equalizers 6a and 6b to be brought into sliding contact with the carrier film 5. Since the configuration reduces the deflection of the carrier film 5 when the carrier film 5 is carried by the equalizers 6a and 6b arranged between the upper and lower backing rolls 2 and 3, the reduction of the deflection leads to control of uneven thickness and uneven coating of the coating film formed by applying a coating liquid to the carrier film 5, thus improving the yield and productivity.
