PURPOSE: To prevent the leakage of a liquid substance such as an adhesive from the rotary shafts of a pair of rolls, by providing a side plate having grooves formed to the end edge parts thereof contacted with the end surfaces of the rolls.

CONSTITUTION: A side plate 10 is arranged across the end surfaces 1a, 2a of a pair of rolls 1, 2 and the inner surface thereof is contacted with both end surfaces 1a, 2a and the end edge parts 11a, 11b thereof form curved surfaces so as to form grooves. The adhesive 3 exuding to the end surfaces 1a, 2a of the rolls 1, 2 is prevented from being squeezed between the end surfaces 1a, 2a of the rolls 1, 2 and the inner surface of the side plate 10 contacted with said end surfaces by surface tension. Even if the adhesive 3 exudes to the outside from the gaps between the rolls 1, 2 and the side plate, said adhesive 3 is pushed up by the force directing to the radius directions of the rolls 1, 2 by centrifugal force due to the rotation of the rolls 1, 2 to be recovered onto the rolls 1, 2.
