To provide a coating bar (rod) by which excess coating liquid is transferred onto a base material to be coated and the transferred coating liquid is formed into a coating film of definite thickness and by which change of thickness of the coating film due to wear of an outer peripheral surface of a rugged shape by friction with the base material to be coated or due to shape change of the outer peripheral surface of the rugged shape by invasion of the coating liquid, does not occur.

The rugged shape is formed by plastic processing on the coating bar for forming the coating film of definite thickness on a surface of the base material to be coated and further the outer peripheral surface of the formed rugged shape is formed of a fluorinated resin layer.
