Title:
COATING COMPOSITION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3259902
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating compsn. which is free from the problem of drift, i.e., the change in gelation time at the time of addition of a curative just before the use, by compounding an N-substd.-N-nitrosohydroxylamine salt into a coating compsn. contg. an unsatd. polyester resin, a thixotropic agent, a pigment, and an accelerator.
SOLUTION: An unsatd. polyester resin contains an unsatd. polyester and a polymerizable unsaid. monomer and is obtd. by mixing styrene, etc., into an unsatd. polyester obtd. from maleic acid (anhydride), etc., and ethylene glycol, etc. The thixotropic agent used is a known one, such as fumed silica or an org.-modified clay. Since the drift of gelation time is high when titanium white is used as a pigment, the effect of compounding the N-substd.-N- nitrosohydroxylamine salt is remrbable. Cobalt naphthenate us an example of the accelerator. The amt. of the N-substd.-N-nitrosohydroxylamine salt compounded is pref. 0.005-0.05 wt.% of the resin.
