To provide a method for manufacturing an electrode with an improved precision by coating a core member of the electrode with a paste material on both sides in a form of stripes.
The method for manufacturing an electrode comprises the step of coating a core member 13 with a paste material on both sides and the step of scraping off the excessive paste material on the core member 13 using blades 16, 18 each disposed on either side of the core member 13 respectively to adjust the thickness A of the paste material 12a on the face side of the core member 13 and the thickness B of the paste material 12b on the back side in such a manner that the thicknesses A and B satisfy a predetermined relationship. The blade 16 is constituted of a rubber lining 16-1b attached to a metal member 16-1a and the blade 18 is constituted of a single rubber member 18-1b with the core member 13 sandwiched between the rubber lining 16-1b and the rubber member 18-1b to form a uncoated part. The rubber lining 16-1b is made to have a prescribed hardness, width and thickness.
