Abstract:

To obtain a coating material for a refractory material member containing carbon such as a dipping nozzle, capable of resisting oxidation.

This coating material for a refractory material containing carbon comprises (A) the first coating material for forming a low melting point coating layer using a binder consisting essentially of a low melting point oxide, a frit and a Si alkoxide and (B) the second coating layer for forming a high melting point coating layer using a binder comprising a high melting point oxide consisting essentially of a Cr2O3-La2O3-based oxide and a partially hydrated material consisting essentially of Si alkoxide. Both 'oxidations with air and with molten steel' of the refractory material containing the carbon can be prevented by using the coating material.
