To provide a coating system that provides an appropriate coating to a printed print medium with a preset content of coating for each print medium.
The coating system includes a data storage unit 2 for storing primary image characteristic data characterizing images generated from image data and coating data indicating the content of coating applied to a print medium corresponding to the image characteristic data, while linking the primary image characteristic data with the coating data, in order to coat the print medium having a print image formed thereon according to the image data. The coating system includes a coater unit 4 for coating the print medium according to the coating data for the print medium, extracted from the data storage unit 2 according to secondary image characteristic data generated from a scanned image of the print image obtained by a scanner unit 3.
